Budget, mid-range or luxury safari: what’s the difference?

Safari prices vary a lot, and it is not always obvious why. The good news: you see the same wildlife at every price point. What changes is the comfort around the game drives.
Budget
Clean, comfortable tented camps, usually just outside the park. Shared vehicles are common, and meals are simple. Great value if your priority is time in the park.
Mid-range
Lodges or permanent tented camps closer to the action, with en-suite rooms, a pool at some properties and more varied meals. The most popular choice for families.
High end
Small, quiet camps inside the reserve or in private conservancies, with fewer vehicles at sightings, private guides and fine dining.
How to choose
Think about how much time you will spend in your room, who you are travelling with, and whether fewer vehicles at sightings matters to you. Tell us your budget and we will recommend the best fit.
