Karura Forest walk
A real forest inside Nairobi, with a waterfall, caves used during the Mau Mau struggle, and trails long enough to forget the traffic. Bring the children, or come to walk properly.
Karura very nearly disappeared. In the late 1990s parts of it were being handed out to developers, and it was Wangari Maathai and the Green Belt Movement who stood in the way. Today it is one of the best-loved places in the city.
We walk the main trail to the waterfall, stop at the caves where freedom fighters once hid, and loop back past Lily Lake. Your guide knows the birds, the trees and the history, and will happily slow down for small legs.
Prefer two wheels? Bikes can be hired at the gate, and we can plan a cycling route instead.
